Choosing exam options

You might have seen the following in a quotation from us:

“We recommend you consider adding these exam options:
1. Foundation mock exam - R750 + VAT
2. Foundation Take2 - R750 + VAT
3. Practitioner mock exam - R750 + VAT
4. Practitioner Take2 - R750 + VAT”

You could be left thinking: Which options are best for me?
Each option can enhance my chances in exam success, but each option will cost me.
How much insurance is necessary to raise my confidence and lift my exam outcome above the pass mark?

Three comments from my experience

Firstly, consider the impact of the risk happening.  To re-do the foundation or practitioner exam will set you back in excess of R6 000 for each.  Paying R750 to gain the experience of the Take1 exam and having the option to re-write the exam for free, MAY be a wise investment.  Much will depend on your level of preparation and your experience.

Secondly, based on my personal experience with all the options, beware of the practitioner exam.  Last year, I decided to do the practitioner mock exam because the sample exam was very different to previous exams from the Prince2® 6th edition.  I was very pleased that I sat through the 3 hours to gain an understanding of the scenario and the way the questions were phrased.

Thirdly, I experienced a strong correlation between the foundation sample exams and the actual real foundation exam Take1.  For safety, I opted for a Take2 option, also for the foundation exam although I did not have to re-sit the exam.

Summary: My conservative approach did cost me more.  The most value I derived from arranging for exam options, was with the practitioner exam – both the mock exam and the Take2 option.

Good luck and best wishes with your exams – over-prepare rather than under-prepare.
